Ottawa, August 24, 2016 –- The Honourable Tobias C. Enverga Jr., Senator from Ontario, is pleased to congratulate Canada’s new ambassador to the Republic of the Philippines, John Holmes, on his recent appointment.

“As the first Canadian senator of Filipino descent, I am delighted to congratulate Ambassador Holmes on his appointment as Canada’s new envoy to the Philippines,” said Senator Enverga in a statement.  “His long-standing and stellar record of service in the Department of Foreign Affairs, along with his vast experience from other postings abroad, makes Ambassador Holmes an excellent representative for Canada, and it shows the importance that the relationship between the two countries has,” the Senator continued.

“I wish Ambassador Holmes the best of luck with his new assignment, and I am confident that he will be doing his best to represent Canada at his new post.  I also want to thank Canada’s outgoing Ambassador, Neil Reeder, for his exemplary work to strengthen Canada’s presence in the Philippines and to build even closer ties between the countries during his term,” Senator Enverga ended.
