Senator Enverga was very happy to join the Santacruzan Group of Mississauga for their annual Santacruzan at the Mississauga Valley Community Centre.
Speaking at the event, Senator Enverga cited the importance of sharing the unwavering Filipino faith with other Canadians, and to continue keeping the values and traditions of the Philippines alive for future generations.
The Santacruzan is the commemoration of the finding of the Holy Cross by the mother of Constantine the Great, Queen Helena. The cross was found in Jerusalem and was brought to Rome amid much celebration. First introduced by Spanish priests, the Santacruzan has since been celebrated in almost every villages, towns and cities in the Philippines during the month of May. Nine days of prayer precedes the colourful parade, which is participated in by youth and supported by the entire community.
